SMC C85/CD85 are round ISO 6432 mini cylinders — stainless steel body, Ø8–25 mm, double-acting. They are the “little workhorses” of automation: opening grippers, feeding parts, small presses, stop and sorting motions. Nothing to invent — standard sizes, standard mounting, always available.

ISO 6432 defines the mounting dimensions, threads and ports (M5 for the small Ø8–16, G1/8 for Ø20–25). That means two things: accessories are standard (feet, flanges, clevises, trunnions fit all brands), and the cylinder can be swapped for another brand’s ISO 6432 — Camozzi 24/25, Festo DSNU — without redesign. We swap the brand, not the invoice.

The D means a built-in magnet in the piston — so you can fit position sensors (auto switches). Without the magnet (C85) you can’t. In automation you almost always take CD85.
